Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC) is a highly experienced project developer, turnkey EPC contractor and O&M provider of tailor-made fossil-fuelled and renewable energy power plants
BWSC provides in-depth support and financial stability during the project development stage, extensive turnkey power plant design and build experience during the construction phase, as well as operational expertise in future operation and maintenance.
Turnkey engineering, procurement and construction of power plants
BWSC has been involved in turnkey EPC contracts since 1975, with more than 170 EPC projects successfully completed in 53 countries.
The company ensures a single point of responsibility by covering all aspects of the plant lifecycle, from concept, design and procurement to project management and set-up of operations in challenging environments.
BWSC originates from the stationary engine division of Burmeister & Wain (B&W), which has built and installed diesel engines for power plants since 1904.
Reliable operation and maintenance of power generation facilities
BWSC has been successfully involved in full operation and maintenance activities since 1993. BWSC is specialised in multi-project mobilisation in challenging local environments, as well as training and education.
In addition, the company offers long-term training programmes including hands-on training, access to back-up support from BWSC headquarters, elaboration of highly detailed O&M manuals and computer-based maintenance systems, as well as spares and full technical provisions.
Power plant project development
Independent power producer (IPP) projects have been an integrated part of BWSC's business segment since 1997.
BWSC undertakes the complete range of project development from conception to financial closure, including financial engineering, debt and equity, as well as the establishment of contractual framework.
The company also invests its own funds as equity in power plant projects and has a well-established extensive international network with private and institutional lenders and investors.
BWSC demonstrates strong financial performance and has been rated AAA by Dun & Bradstreet over a number of years.
Optimum emission reduction solutions
BWSC's power plants can comply with the most stringent pollutant emission limits, either by primary methods or, when required, by application of secondary abatement technology suitable for the specific plant type and local conditions. The company aims to minimise CO2 emissions, NOx, SOx, and particulate matter (soot and fuel ash).
BWSC also cooperates with a range of leading technology partners to provide the optimum abatement solution for each application.
Diesel and gas engine-based power plants: maximum efficiency and minimum maintenance
BWSC's engine-based diesel and gas power plants are based on diesel, heavy fuel oil (HFO) or gas. The power plants are characterised by maximum efficiency, long lifespan with minimum maintenance and competitive fuel consumption.
BWSC maintains close relationships with internationally recognised engine manufacturers, which enables the company to select the most suitable technology for each specific project.
Pioneering biomass power plant solutions
Biomass plants from BWSC are based on CO2 neutral and self-regenerating natural resources such as wood chips, straw or other organic materials.
The biomass plants are designed to optimise available biomass feedstock by maximising energy conversion and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the overall facility.
The electrical output ranges from 15MW to 60MW and the plants can be configured for combined heat and power (CHP) production.
By cooperating with leading suppliers of biomass boilers, turbines and auxiliary equipment, BWSC ensures the optimal solution for specific fuel, local incentive schemes and EU or local requirements.
BWSC's proven track record within biomass power plants includes:
Biogas power plants
BWSC has been successfully involved in biogas plants for more than 25 years. The large-scale biogas plants are based on livestock manure to treat a variety of wet and semi-dry biomass resources.
Throughout the biogas plants, BWSC ensures highly economic and reliable operation with maximum environmental benefits.
